Distribution Channels ASP Platform FAQ

ebrary offers publishers access to a range of distribution channels which may be pursued separately or combined for greater revenues. Our relationship with publishers is based on revenue sharing, thus distributing through the following channels entails no direct cost to publishers.

Institutions

ebrary enables publishers to reach new institutional markets and generate incremental revenues by distributing books online within a number of aggregated Subject Collections currently representing over 20,000 books and other authoritative documents. Developed specifically for academic and public libraries, each aggregated collection consists of several hundred to thousands of books per subject area, from hundreds of publishers.

ebrary also offers Publisher-Branded Collections containing books, journal articles, sheet music, white papers, and other specialized content from leading publishers in a variety of fields. As with an aggregated collection, ebrary serves as host and distributor of the product and the relationship is based on revenue sharing.

More than 200 libraries in nine countries, including many in non-English-speaking countries, currently subscribe to ebrary’s databases. Additionally, ebrary has a network of major resellers, who provide ebrary access to thousands of institutional customers throughout the world. Our reseller partners include Coutts Library Services, covering the UK and Canada; PrioInfo, in Northern Europe; iGroup, serving Asia-Pacific markets; eLibro, covering South America; and a host of US regional library networks.

Consumers

To help publishers promote print books online, ebrary provides each of its publishing partners with an individualized, branded website where access to full text of their titles may be granted to consumers. Publishers may link to titles from their websites or electronic mailings in order to provide consumers interactive access to a book’s full-text. Such a website is ideal for promoting backlist titles in need of new exposure, or to support marketing and publicity efforts for specific frontlist titles.
