Advanced Technology Libraries Chooses ebrary’s Technology to Distribute Newsletter Archives Online

July 28, 2003 – Palo Alto, CA – ebrary®, a leading provider of information distribution and retrieval services, today announced that Advanced Technology Libraries (AT/L) is now using its technology to provide librarians throughout the world with freely viewable, online access to its digital archives. Available today at http://www.advancedtechnologylibraries.com, the initiative benefits librarians, by providing them with archives of important industry news, and allows Advanced Technology Libraries to promote print subscriptions online.

“A growing number of people are now relying on the Internet to find and utilize authoritative information,” said Judy Duke, editor and publisher of Advanced Technology Libraries. “We are pleased to work with ebrary to make our publication available to librarians, students and others over the Web.”

ebrary provides a powerful platform for securely distributing newsletters, magazines and other publications online in an environment that maintains the exact appearance of the printed editions. Among other benefits, ebrary turns every document into a highly interactive experience. With ebrary InfoTools™, readers can access relevant information and resources from within AT/L publications and on the Web simply by selecting words. ebrary also offers full-text search within and across documents, bookmarks, highlighting, automatic citations and more.

“While ebrary has been focusing on aggregating content and licensing database collections to libraries, our underlying technology has many applications,” said Christopher Warnock, CEO of ebrary. “We are now making the same technology that powers our database collections available to organizations that need to securely distribute and share their own content online. These organizations include magazine, newsletter, newspaper and any type of publishers, as well as libraries that wish to create institutional repositories of their own valuable thesis and dissertations, special collections, and other authoritative document types.”

ebrary’s technology leverages the Portable Document Format (PDF), enabling magazine, newsletter and other publishers to efficiently and cost-effectively submit the same files used during the print production process into the ebrary system. ebrary supports a variety of business rules and payment models and is fully compliant with ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulation) and BPA (Business of Performing Audits) audit requirements. Among other benefits, ebrary allows publishers to increase revenues by reaching broad international markets, reduce costs associated with printing and mailing hardcopies, and turn static documents into a highly interactive experience, benefiting readers and advertisers alike.

Pricing and Availability
