Director
verne.newton@marist.eduWhat trends impacted your
decision to subscribe
to ebrary?• Marist has been at the forefront of integrating technology into its curriculum, and for 20 years has predicted electronic books would become an important element of academic libraries. What issues or problems has ebrary addressed at your library? • ebrary has lowered acquisition and processing costs for the library. What do you and your patrons like best about ebrary’s technology? • Multi-user access was a huge break-through, but all the functionalities are well designed from the search within document to the Bookshelf, many hyper-active indexes, and just a remarkable number of top flight and very current books. Favorite feature(s)? •
•
Mine is searching within the document.
As Library Director, I like the limitations on printing as we are trying to change the culture from Print first, read second to Read First, Print second.
What do you and your patrons like best about ebrary’s content? • Our faculty members are constantly expressing their amazement at the quality and quantity of books they find relevant to their teaching and research needs. How does ebrary compare to other digital resources at your library? • We have vast and important digital resources, but I don’t think any have had the broad impact and "buzz" factor of ebrary. I am constantly touting it to other schools, even those who have vastly larger collections than we do.
