How has ebrary solved a
problem at your library? |
ebrary provides a valuable resource and means we do not need to buy expensive books to satisfy a short term or one-off need. |
How are students using
ebrary? |
Students use it for all types of research, such as coursework and projects. They find the wide range of subject areas useful as there is a good chance of them finding a relevant item. It has been useful when students have been unable to find any (print) books using the library catalogue on their topic and they usually find more than one in ebrary. |
How are professors using
ebrary? |
Staff have also used it for staff development/research - a member of staff recently used it, for example, when researching project failure. She was able to find several relevant chapters, make notes and highlight sections, saving these to her bookshelf. |
How are librarians using
ebrary? |
Librarians have used ebrary in information literacy classes e.g. introducing students to a range of quality resources. The wide range of subjects covered in ebrary makes it easy to find relevant examples for different groups of students. |
What technology features
do you like best about
ebrary? |
The content downloads very quickly, even when used off-campus, e.g. on a 56k modem with a dial-up connection. Also, ebrary is accessible both on and off-campus via AthensDA. |
Do you use ebrary's
usage reports? |
Yes. Usage reports are quite easy to download and give us a good indication of how content is used (in terms of page views, copies and prints) while protecting the privacy of our students. |
How do users find and
access ebrary content?
Most users access ebrary through a link in the University Virtual Library, and there is a link to the ebrary home page from the main search page in the library catalogue. Some titles are on reading lists. |
What are your users'
favorite InfoTools
features? |
In information literacy classes, we recommend the highlighting, notes and bookshelf features and these seem to appeal to students. |
How have you customized
your InfoTools menu? |
Our users have the ability to link to the library catalogue (OPAC), an online reference library, etc. |
